Defining our MAX factor in an issues-rich world

Our growing business is in the running as a finalist for ‘Public Relations Company of the Year.’

How good is that? It’s a significant honour for our passionate team of consultants, and especially poignant given the current enormous public focus on the reputation of banks and providers to the wealth sector.

The sector needs good advice. We are delighted to be delivering that advice to our clients, all of whom have specific plans in place to capture the inevitable upswing of reputation rebuild and new growth beyond the current drawdown.

The clients we serve – most of them long-term, bound by mutual respect and trust – came to us through referral and relationship. We have never once participated in a competitive pitch or RFP process.

We are very happy to do that, of course. It is just that our growth from a one-person start-up in 2014 to a six-person consultancy today has been organic and built on a few core principles.

The first principle is integrity. That means hiring and training the right people, possessing the core ingredients of purpose and professionalism. It takes time to find those people and time to match them with the next core principle: conviction.

We deliver what we say we will, sometimes requiring forthright counsel even if occasionally our advice is not what clients think they want or need to hear.

At the end of the day, the best work we do is behind the scenes, acting in the role of trusted communications strategists to our clients, many of whom prefer our presence to be felt, not seen.

That is one of the key differentiators for Madden & Assoc. and perhaps the best reason of all why the team should be recognised for their effort.

We are not a PR agency in the classic sense of ‘parties, promotions and publicity’. The term “public relations” also does not include our own brand-building or PR. It is about professional, measurable service delivery to clients, in their best interest, delivered against specific commercial and reputational goals. Simple.

Naturally, industry awards are fun. Who doesn’t love a celebration? But for Madden & Assoc. the upcoming awards are also a great way to endorse the professional consulting – as opposed to traditional agency – model we have purpose-built for the financial services sector.

The awards recognise the leading marketing, advertising and sales professionals in Australia’s financial services industry.

We are proud of the work we do and the people we work with, and we hope you will consider voting for us in this year’s Max Awards.
